Fun Treats on Their Special Day
Make moms and dads feel great on their special day with fun treats for the entire family.
Father’s and Mother’s Day are usually a huge celebratory family affair, resulting in increased diner traffic for restaurants or cafés. While loyal diners should get special attention, first-time visitors are also important. Impressing them can reap rewards in the long run. If they have a positive experience, they will share this with their friends.
Accommodating the masses
Most successful restaurants or cafés cater to a myriad of diners, be it a party of one or a large multi-generational crowd. Ensure that your menu has options such as kid-friendly food and beverages, meat-free, and so on. Be as inclusive as possible so that each and every diner feels welcome and appreciated at your restaurant or cafe.
Easy-to-prep meals
Father’s Day or Mother’s Day is not a good day to offer dishes that require lengthy prep time or customisation. Offer pre-fixed menus and a few specials for the occasion.
In addition to serving the typical “dad food” (lots of carbs and meat) or “mom food” (more greens), make sure you have options on the menu that everyone can enjoy. Diners will also remember the celebration for years to come if a popular or well-known chef is on-hand to prepare meals.
These celebrations can also feature healthy food, which can be just as tasty. For example, serve plain popcorn with a few pinches of Himalayan sea salt and less butter, or serve brown rice or quinoa instead of white rice. The menu could feature multiple superfoods such as matcha (green tea), kale, chia seeds, and so on.
A cosy ambience
Diners who pick casual-dining restaurants are also on the lookout for exceptional service, good atmosphere and the right energy level. A special-occasion meal with family members should be a fun and happy dining experience.
Happy snapshots
Hire a professional photographer or get one of your staff to take photos of the families. Get diners’ email addresses so that you can share the photos with them and at the same time, pad up your database. Perhaps, you could email a special discount voucher that they can use for their next visit too.
Surprise gifts
This can be a free dessert, gift card or a special discount at partner outlets, for example, 20% off a relaxing session at a spa.
Celebrations throughout the week
Instead of just one day to celebrate, your restaurant or café can offer week-long specials for dads and moms. This would give those who are unable to celebrate on the actual day a chance to still have their special moment.
